Project Description
EU Blockathon 2018
HOW WE TACKLED THE BRIEF GIVEN TO US
Brief
EU Blockathon 2018 was the first-ever anti-counterfeiting blockchain competition in Europe by EUIPO, the EU office for intellectual property rights protection.
This 24hr ‘hackathon’ competition was held in Autoworld – a beautiful car museum in Brussels. Teams of coders ate pizza and coding throughout the night – with the aim of creating next level anti-counterfeiting infrastructure.
Our production team provided:
- A 24hr interrupted live stream of the coders at work – complete with countdown clock;
- Live interviews with the teams, the host and VIP’s;
- A live feed of the Awards ceremony;
- A fully edited archive of all proceedings – with very fast turnaround of edits.

Deliverables
A dedicated production team worked throughout the night to capture exclusive interviews, a 24hr live stream of the live coding challenge, and a full awards ceremony – that was streamed live to the EUIPO Blockathon website + social media. It was a very exciting event – fuelled by pizza, beer and featuring top coders from throughout Europe.
